Our Story
Broader Migration Consulting was founded by Dr. Admir Skodo. Ever since he was forced to flee his home in former Yugoslavia as an eight-year old, Admir knew he wanted to understand how and why some people become refugees and use that knowledge to help refugees and the governments, organizations, and communities that welcome them.
He has held positions as Senior Policy Analyst at the Migration Policy Institute Europe; Research Scholar and Instructor at various universities, including the University of California, Berkeley, Lund University, Stanford University and the San Quentin Prison University Project; and Associate Analyst at the California Public Utilities Commission (CPUC). Admir was Founding President of the UC Berkeley Humanities and Social Sciences Association and Editor-in-Chief of the UC Postdoctoral Newsletter.
Admir’s unique background and wide-ranging expertise is something you’re not likely to encounter often. As a refugee and migrant he can understand the plight of those forced to flee their homes from the inside. As a published researcher and analyst in not only the migration field, but in history, sociology, and political science, he has a broad repertoire of analytical, methodological, and research tools that he can craft to your situation and needs. With a professional trajectory spanning academia, consulting, non-profits, and governments, he understand the culture and needs of your sector - and he understands how to break out of organizational “silos” to get different stakeholders to engage in meaningful collaboration and communication.
Admir holds a PhD in history from the European University Institute. In addition to English, he speaks Swedish, Bosnian/Croatian/Serbian, and French.
