Building on a wealth of experience working with immigration attorneys and conducting original research on Afghanistan, we provide two services always presented in accessible language:
Country conditions research and indexing for asylum cases, based on a unique method developed in-house.
Expert reports and testimony on Afghanistan. -
As a dedicated and experienced trainer, teacher, and facilitator on country conditions research methods, we will develop and tailor content to your specific needs and profile.
Training on how to effectively do country conditions research and indexing is ideal for immigration law firms or decision-makers to want to educate their staff on how to identify, select, and present the objective evidence that is essential to corroborate asylum claims. The training is designed to be both effective and cost-efficient.

How It Works - From Contact to Completion of Work
-
In order to provide a potential client with an estimate of hours and fee, the potential client needs to provide the following information upon contact:
1.2. For hardship waiver briefs and indexes:
a) the quantity of the evidence, including declarations, in number of pages.
b) a list of the types of documents used as evidence, such as medical documents, psychological evaluation, certificates, financial documents, etc.
1.3. For country condition research:
a) whether the research is for a hardship or asylum case.
b) the country in question.
c) what the client attorney aims to evidence with the country conditions in regard to the attorney's own client. -
Based on the information the potential client provides me, I will offer the potential client an estimate of hours and fee. When we come to an agreement on the fee and hours, I will send the potential client a Contract for signature. The contract will stipulate the parties of the contract, the scope of the services, compensation, my responsibilities as an independent contractor, confidentiality, and guarantees.
-
Once I receive the signed contract, the client needs to provide the following:
3.1. For hardship waivers and indexes:
a) my preference for receiving evidence documents, including declarations, is in scanned form and by email. I do accept hard copies as well. The documents must be in the order the client wishes to see them in the index and/or brief.
b) a paragraph-long statement about the strengths of the case that the client wishes to see emphasized in the index and/or brief.
3.2. For country condition research:
a) as much specific information about the attorney's client as possible that will aid me in finding relevant information on country conditions.
3.3. Follow up questions. During the course of research, indexing, or writing, I may contact the client to clarify certain issues that may have come up in the course of research, writing, or indexing. -
After I have completed my work, and the client received the document(s), the client may
a) accept the document(s) as submitted, in which case the contract is terminated with the satisfaction of both parties.
b) accept the document(s) as submitted, but request additional work in terms of revisions and modifications, in which case the client and I will discuss whether additional fees apply. I am willing to do reasonable free revisions working with a client for the first time, because I realize that learning a client's style and preferences can take a little time.
